The Save the Tygart Watershed Association (STTWA) is a local 501(c)3 nonprofit with the mission of protecting and enhancing the water quality in the Tygart Valley River watershed through monitoring, remediation and education. STTWA is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic team member to support its current programs and develop new opportunities for the organization.  This position will provide support for the Executive Director and Board in expanding the programming offered by the watershed.  This position is currently part-time (40-50 hrs a month) with the potential to expand in the future.  If interested, please submit an application by 9/19/21. 

 

Working under limited supervision, the team member’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the organization’s website and social media platforms.

  • Contribute to the maintenance and quality control of STTWA’s water quality database using MS Access.

  • Participation in STTWA’s water monitoring program and educational outreach events. 

  • Communicate regularly with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors through the regular attendance and participation in monthly board meetings, committee meetings, and various informal meetings.

  • Attend community events and conferences in support of STTWA’s organizational mission.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of funding sources for the organization and its existing or new programs including but not limited to grant proposals and community outreach.

  • Contribute to the management of some programs and activities in support of STTWA’s organizational mission.

  • Contribute to the development and oversight of the annual organizational budget.

  • Serve as a spokesperson for the organization, which includes building and maintaining relationships with other nonprofits, state agencies, other economic development organizations, private industry, and state and federal legislators.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Competency in Microsoft applications including Word and Excel is required.  Experience with MS Access and Intuit Quickbooks is a plus.

  • Competency with GIS platforms for mapping and analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience in website maintenance and social media outreach.

  • Demonstrated experience developing organizational and programmatic funding and obtaining grants.

  • Knowledge of water quality issues and environmental restoration work. In West Virginia and experience with water quality monitoring protocols.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

 

 

Salary:

The position is part-time (40-50 hours per month), with the potential to grow to a full-time position in the future. Salary is 20/hr.  Individuals will work remotely but must be available for activities within the Tygart Valley watershed.
