Tygart Valley River Rally 2023

The Tygart Valley River Rally will be held Friday July 21st - Saturday July 22nd in Grafton, West Virginia. It will be a fun-filled day with yoga, a lazy river float, a kayak float from Grafton to Valley Falls, arts & crafts, live music, a nature hike and more! The event is our largest fundraiser of the year for Save the Tygart. All money raised will directly benefit improving the water quality of the Tygart River.

 

Friday evening we will host an evening social in Grafton at the Carr China property. Saturday will be the main event day. We will host activities throughout the day and have a pavilion at Valley Falls State Park.  Saturday events include a canoe/kayak float on the Tygart River from Grafton to Valley Falls State Park (shuttle provided) or a lazy river raft float on the Tygart in Grafton (carpool arranged) Come on out and join us for a day celebrating the Tygart River! 

 

While the Tygart Valley River Rally event is free to attend, there is a cost for the canoe/kayak float and the Lazy River Float. Each float is $12 per person. We will also have silent auction items available for bidding online the week before and after the event. All other activities are free to enjoy, but we will gladly accept donations!

 

Event T-Shirts

Anyone is eligible to purchase an event t-shirt ($15). This is a great way to support Save the Tygart and snag a cool t-shirt for yourself or friends! 

 

Register by July 11th to ensure you have a shirt. Shirts ordered after this date may not be guaranteed in your size.  Shirt orders are not considered final until payment is received.   All T-shirts must be picked up Friday from 5-8PM at the Save the Tygart Property or Saturday from 7AM - 7 PM.

Join us for a relaxing evening along the Tygart. 

Informally chat with Save the Tygart and other community members. 

The Taylor County Arts Council will also present an activity to enjoy....Gyotaku: The Ancient Art of Japanese Fish Painting

Our partner organizations and other non-profits will have informational booths set up. 

We will also have a fire and smores!

7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Valley Falls - All day activities 

    7:00 - 8:30 AM    STTWA - Canoe/kayak boat drop off

    7:00 - 9:00 AM    Valley Falls - Canoe/kayak registration/check in

    8:30 - 9:00 AM    Valley Falls - Morning Yoga by the falls

        9:15 AM         Valley Falls - Shuttle for canoe/kayak departs to Carr China 

        9:15 AM         City Park     - First flight Lazy River floaters check-in

        10:15 AM         Valley Falls - Shuttle for canoe/kayak departs to Carr China 

       11:00 AM         STTWA   - Canoe/kayak float begins 

       12:00 PM         Valley Falls - Nature hike 

        1:15 PM         City Park     - Second flight Lazy River floaters arrive

The Former Carr China property is owned by Save the Tygart Watershed Association. All activities on Friday will be hosted at this property. The property will also serve as the canoe/kayak float launch point Saturday morning.
